Academy Uniform and Equipment

Children throughout the academy wear a school uniform.  This can be bought inexpensively from a range of retailers.  Occasionally we have good quality, second-hand uniform available - ask at the school office for availability.

Uniform can be any combination of grey skirts, pinafores or trousers, with white shirts worn with ties, white blouses or white polo shirts. These are worn with the navy sweatshirts or cardigans and polo shirts that display the school logo - these can be ordered from the school office. We also hold a stock of St John's Academy school ties.

Socks should be grey or white with black formal school shoes. Children may also wear grey or black tights.

During the summer term, children wear blue and white checked dresses or tailored grey shorts in warm weather. They still need to wear shoes as sandals offer limited protection to their feet.

PE kit is navy shorts with white round-necked t shirts (optional shirts with logos can be bought from the school office), and pumps.  For outdoor sessions, we recommend grey jogging bottoms and sweatshirts with trainers. We do have an optional outdoor grey PE hooded top for children to wear outside (order through the office).  These should be kept at school during term-time in a drawstring pumpbag.

It is ESSENTIAL that ALL uniform and kit is named clearly - our lost property is overflowing each term!

For safety reasons, jewellery is not permitted.  Children may choose to wear a watch or stud earrings, but these must be removed by the children themselves for PE sessions, and they are responsible for their safekeeping.

Electronic Devices Policy

Mobile phones, tablet computers, handheld games consoles, mp3 players and smart watches (e.g. Apple watches) are not permitted in both the academy and fun club. If your child walks to and / or from the academy and you believe a phone would improve their safety, the child must hand it in to the academy office when they come into the academy and it must be collected from there at the end of the day. The academy will take no responsibility for the loss or damage of mobile phones.

Hair Styles

Any child with long hair will be asked to tie their hair back. Hair should always be tied back, with any hair ribbons / head bands in subtle blue, black or white. Extreme hair styles are also not allowed, which includes the use of colour, shaved patterns, etc. Make up and nail varnish should not be worn.
