 CLERK TO THE GOVERNORS

Permanent Contract

Required asap

Salary £2,884.64 per annum: (Hourly rate £9.68)

 Hours – 298 per academic year

 

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals for the above post.

The Governors require a Clerk to work effectively with the Chair of Governors, Governors, Principal and other staff within the Academy. The Clerk is responsible for advising the Governing Body on constitutional matters, duties and powers, and will work within the broad current legislative framework. A good level of numeracy and literacy skills are essential. Applicants should have excellent ICT skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications. Applicants should be sympathetic to the Christian aims of the academy.

You will:

  • Carry out all administrative duties relative to appointing governors & maintain records of their appointments, training & attendance.
  • Ensure that meetings are timely & quorate.
  • Be able to take accurate minutes from your own notes and then produce well-presented minutes for distribution
  • Collate and distribute agendas and associated paperwork in advance of meetings
  • Be available to take minutes at all meetings throughout the year, 13 to 15 meetings a year. Meetings will normally take place in the evenings commencing 6.30pm, others are held as breakfast & day time meetings.
  • Be required to take minutes for statutory committee meetings as & when they arise.
  • Provide procedural and legal advice and guidance
  • Attend relevant training events organised by the Local Authority.

Experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

(The post includes supervision of children over the lunchtime period)
